This is for an in-person 1 day workshop with Hayley Perry and Liz Bessel of Expressive Stitches!

Course Description: We are calling this workshop a “progressive project,” meaning we will learn one lesson on watercolor painting in the morning with Hayley and move to a lesson on embroidering on paper with Liz in the afternoon.

We are encouraging an intuitive and relaxed approach to painting and embroidering within these projects. We are skirting the “rules” of these media and hope our students will feel free to experiment and try new visual ideas. This is very much a “go with the flow and see what happens on the paper” approach.

Students should bring (all optional): a brown bag lunch, a covered drink, a sketchbook and pencil. All supplies for the class are included.

We will begin in Hayley’s studio from 9:30 to 12:30 to start our paintings (at least three). There will be a break from 12:30 to 1 for lunch, then we will work with Liz on embroider from 1-3:30. We plan to have a short discussion of our day’s work from 3:30 to 4pm.

This workshop is $100 with all supplies included. We will need at least 3 people signed up to run this class with a max of 10 students. We will send an email the week of the class to confirm participation and share directions to the studio. We will email at least 2 days in advance in the event of a weather-related cancellation.

Please note: There is no elevator in the building - only stairs. This is an industrial space so there will be other tenants working, making noise, and moving heavy equipment - use caution when moving around in common areas. Feel free to get in touch if you have any questions!
