ONE SESSION CLASS

Ages 12 - Adult

An introductory course into traditional North American craft of rug hooking. Dating back to pioneer times, rug hooking recycles common materials into unitarian objects for the home. This course will teach the original technique used in rug hooking and allow you to create beautiful textile art pieces that will brighten your floors and walls.

Each student will work with the Loop by Loop Studio design of their choosing. I will cover topics from the history of rug hooking, supplies and equipment, the stitches you need to execute, and finishing.

Class price covers the cost of all materials, including a reusable rug hook and quilting hoop to take with you.  Additional materials students could bring: scissors, needle and thread. This class will need 3 students to run. I will email a class confirmation during the week before the class.

Typically, students complete about 50% to 100% of their project during class time. Students will be given lessons on how to finish their rugs in case they need to finish on their own.  This class will need at least three students to run.

About our venue: This class is scheduled to take place at Loop by Loop Studio which is located inside the 30 Cutler Mill building in Warren, RI. PLEASE NOTE: THERE IS NO ELEVATOR TO REACH THIS LOCATION AND I AM ON THE SECOND FLOOR. Please also note that this is an industrial mill building so there may be noise, obstructions and equipment in the halls. Please take care when entering.
